VA: What are 5 essential items in your wardrobe, from jewellery to clothes and shoes?
BF: Ballet flats are always essential to me, I live in ballet flats. I have so many different ones, from Maison Margiela to Sandy Liang to vintage Prada, all I do is wear ballet flats! Then definitely Levi jeans, and my little diamond Pandora Infinite studs—I love little pieces of jewellery that I can stack. I also love fun, weird sunglasses. I've been wearing my inflatable Loewe ones a lot (before I broke them!) as well as my huge Versace glasses, very Donatella vibes. But I also love smaller, thin glasses, like these purple Dries Van Noten ones I have. Lastly, I’m a sucker for a nice, silk Reformation dress. They’re really size inclusive, so it’s just easy and I just really love silky dresses.
VA: Personal style is all about self-expression—how do you feel you use your own style and fashion choices to express yourself?
BF: Fashion to me is just ingrained in the way that I think. I don’t consciously think about what I'm wearing anymore, I just wear things that I like. I've worked in the fashion industry for years, so fashion is just part of the way that I live my life. I don’t ever buy anything unintentionally, and I think that's something I've learned over the years. Everything I own is very intentional and makes me happy. From my cosy clothes to my fancy clothes, they're all things that bring me joy. There's thought put into it.
VA: And of all the red carpets you’ve been on, what has been your favourite look?
BF: My newest favourite look is the look I wore for the Vogue ball in Brazil—I love Mirror Palais!
VA: On the opposite end of dressing for a red carpet, what’s your go-to lazy day outfit formula?
BF: I was lucky enough to design my own pair of jeans for Levi’s—they’re like a baggy 505 fit, in green and blue, and they’re tattered and oversized. I even brought them here to Australia because they’re my favourite pants to wear! And of course if you’re lucky enough to get to design your own pair of jeans, they will fit you perfectly!—so I wear those a lot with a tight white t-shirt. Or I’ll do a cosy spandex, Skims type vibe. We love Skims.
